Few roads in Europe can match the emotional impact of the Lofoten Islands. This loop follows the legendary E10 through bridges, fjords and Arctic fishing villages, blending perfect tarmac with some of Norway’s most iconic viewpoints. The route is designed as a full-day motorcycle expedition with optional short hikes to Ryten, Offersøykammen and Reinebringen. Expect dramatic mountain walls rising straight from the sea, crisp Atlantic air and one of the most photogenic riding days in Northern Europe.

Practical Riding Notes

Strong lateral winds may affect bridge crossings and exposed coastal sections. Fuel availability is good in Svolvær, Leknes and Reine. Ride with caution near villages and ferry access points. Expect frequent photo stops.

Seasonality & Safety

The ideal window is summer, when temperatures are milder and roads remain dry. Midnight sun conditions make late-evening riding particularly spectacular. Avoid winter unless equipped for low temperatures and possible snow.

Svolvær → Leknes → Reine → Å (~135 km)

The ultimate Nordic MotoADV coastal loop.

Leave Svolvær heading west on the legendary E10. The first section flows across bridges and open sea panoramas towards Delpen and Heia.

Continue to Offersøykammen, ideal for a short scenic walk.

Near Fredvang, stop for the famous Ryten viewpoint.

The western section reaches Reine, one of Norway’s most iconic villages, followed by the optional Reinebringen hike.
