Overview

This loop is built around the classic riverside roads of western Germany: first the Rheingau, then the castle-lined Upper Middle Rhine, before crossing to the Mosel Valley and finishing through the Nahe and Mainz. The route keeps the riding fluid and scenic, with plenty of stop options for viewpoints, castles and wine estates.

Stage 1 — Frankfurt → Bernkastel-Kues · approx. 225 km

Rolling out from Frankfurt, the route heads west through the lower Rheingau vineyards, climbs briefly near Kloster Eberbach and Schloss Johannisberg, then follows the Rhine past Rüdesheim, Bacharach and the Loreley before bending toward Cochem and the Mosel for the overnight in Bernkastel-Kues.

Stage 2 — Bernkastel-Kues → Frankfurt · approx. 205 km

The return stage keeps the ride in vineyard country a little longer, moving west and north through Traben-Trarbach, Zell and the Calmont slopes near Bremm before turning east toward Bad Kreuznach, Mainz and the final run back to Frankfurt.
